A lot.Īwkwafina will soon be premiering another voice-over role with her work in The Bad Guys from DreamWorks Animation. That film also received an “A” CinemaScore. Awkwafina also did voice-over work for another hit, Disney’s animated film, Raya and the Last Dragon. It’s a natural role for the acclaimed actress to take on after starring in the Marvel “monster” box-office bonanza, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which earned a coveted “A” CinemaScore grade from moviegoers. In Renfield, it is said that Awkwafina will be playing the part of a character who joins forces with Nicholas Hoult’s title character to battle Nicolas Cage’s Dracula. This was pre-pandemic but proved Awkwafina’s personality is distinct, colorful and one that people adore.

She followed that up with a role in a smart and funny TV show called “Awkwafina is Nora From Queens.” If you live or have recently lived in Queens, New York, you most likely heard Awkwafina promoting the series roughly a couple of years ago by her recorded voice announcing subway stops on the number 7 train. She won the aforementioned Golden Globe for her part in the dramatic comedy The Farewell which was one of the most critically acclaimed movies of 2019. Since her work in that film, she has been, in a word, unstoppable. Awkwafina came on to the scene in a major way with her colorful role in the box-office smash, Crazy Rich Asians.
